Nuno Júdice nasceu na Mexilhoeira Grande, Algarve, em 1949. Formou-se em Filologia Românica e foi professor associado da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, onde se reformou em 2015. Entre 1997 e 2004 foi Conselheiro Cultural e Diretor do Instituto Camões em Paris. É autor de estudos sobre teoria da literatura e literatura portuguesa. Tem livros traduzidos em várias línguas, destacando-se Espanha, México, Itália e França, onde está publicado na coleção Poésie/ Gallimard. Dirigiu, de 1996 até 1999, a revista Tabacaria da Casa Fernando Pessoa. Em 2009 assumiu a direção da revista Colóquio-Letras da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Recebeu importantes prémios de poesia em Portugal e no estrangeiro, dos quais se destacam, entre outros, o XXII Prémio Rainha Sofia de Poesia Ibero-Americana (Espanha), em 2013, o Prémio de Poesia Poetas del Mundo Latino Víctor Sandoval (México), em 2014, o Prémio Argana de Poesia (Marrocos), em 2015, e o Prémio internacional de Poesia Europa in Versi/ Prémio Carreira (Itália) e o Prémio El Ojo Crítico Iberoamericano de Radio Nacional de Espanha, em 2016. O Café de Lenine é a sua obra de ficção mais recente.
Nuno Júdice was born in Mexilhoeira Grande, Algarve, in 1949. He graduated in Romance Philology and was an associate professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he retired in 2015. Between 1997 and 2004 he was Cultural Counselor and Director of the Camões Institute in Paris. He is the author of studies on literature theory and Portuguese literature. He has books translated in several languages, highlighting Spain, Mexico, Italy and France, where it is published in the Poésie / Gallimard collection. He directed, from 1996 to 1999, the magazine Tabacaria of Casa Fernando Pessoa. In 2009 he took over the direction of the magazine Colóquio-Letras of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. She has received important poetry prizes in Portugal and abroad, including the XXII Queen Sofia Prize for Ibero-American Poetry (Spain), in 2013, the Poetry Prize of the Latin Víctor Sandoval (Mexico) in 2014, the Argana Prize for Poetry (Morocco) in 2015, and the International Poetry Prize Europe in Versi / Carrera Prize (Italy) and the El Ojo Critic Iberoamerican National Radio of Spain Award in 2016.
