Born in Las Flores – Argentina – completed his theatrical and musical studies in Buenos Aires. Studied Architecture and Architectural Semiology in Universidad de Belgrano, he graduated with distinction and honors in Scenic Representation at the Superior Institute of Art of Teatro Colón, where he also received a scholarship. Dramatist and essayist of opera, he has been Director of Production of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo (1994/2004), Artistic Director of the Opera of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2002/2014); He is currently Artistic Director of the Alfredo Kraus International Foundation.

Mario Pontiggia had the honor of inaugurating the Grimaldi Forum of Monaco (Aida / 2000) and the new Opera di Firenze (Tosca / 2014).
